Ash a.k.a Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was born on 1st of November 1973 in Mangalore. She is the beauty queen who has stolen millions of hearts all over the world with her Drop Dead Gorgeous looks. This beauty was crowned Miss world in 1994. She is the daughter of Krishnaraj Rai and Vrinda Rai who hail from Mangalore. This 5’7’’ actress was an architecture student who pursued modeling a part time job. Best known for Pepsi commercial along side Mahima Chaudhry. Her parents moved to Mumbai there Aishwarya completed her schooling from Arya Vidya Mandir High School in Santa Cruz. She then did HSC course one year in Jai Hind College and then moved to Ruparel college in Matunga to finish her HSC. Keeping in mind her capability in studies she wanted to pursue Architecture. But then she gave it up to pursue modeling as a serious profession.

She made her Debut in Mani Ratnam’s Iruvar (1997). This gave her a passage into the celluloid dreams. She was then seen in Hindi film Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya (1997). Her third project was with the Ace Director Shankar in Jeans (1998). She is best known in South India for the role she played in this film. Her first box office success in Hindi cinema came in the form of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) where she worked with Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Giving company in the movie was Salman khan and Ajay Devgan. This movie won her a critical acclaim for her portrayal of the character of Nandini, a girl who is in love with one man forcibly is married to other. Then she was seen in Subhash Ghai’s Taal (1999). This movie fetched her Filmfare for best performance. After few movies she was then seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas (2002) a famous novel adaptation. This was screened at Cannes. Then later on she crossed countries and acted in Gurinder Chadha’s Bride and Prejudice (2004). She was then seen in another cross over The Mistress of Spices (2005). She became hugely popular with the dance for the song ‘Kajra re’ from Bunty Aur Babli (2005). She was then seen in Dhoom 2 (2006) where she played role of ‘Sunheri’ for which she lost a lot of pounds.

She made remarkable achievements like being a active member in the Cannes Jury, making it to the cover page of many magazines amongst which was TIME. She tied the knot with Abhishek Bachchan on the 20th of April 2007. Post marriage she was seen in Jodha Akbar (2008) and Sarkar Raj (2008). The Pink Panther 2 (2009) had her again in Hollywood film, but this did not do well in the box office.
