Bhumika was born on 21st August 1978. Her birth name is Rachna and she is also known as Gudiya. Her father and brother work in the military. She completed her schooling from Delhi and moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in ads and music videos. Offers started to come in after she got noticed in the Ponds Talcum Powder ad.
She started her career in movies by acting in Telugu movie Yuvakudu (2000). She got a break through the mega hit Khushi (2001). This film had “Power Star” Pawan Kalyan in it. She debuted in Hindi Cinema opposite Salman Khan in Tere Naam (2003). She did not disappoint Telugu Film goers and worked simultaneously in Telugu movies. She was seen in movies like Okkadu (2003), Missamma (2003), Simhadri (2003). She also stunned audiences with her performance in Anasuya (2007) a thriller genre.
She got married to Bharat Thakur, a Yoga expert, on 25 October 2007.
