Renowned Telugu film director and producer Tammareddy Bharadwaja slammed Telugu film heroes for not taking initiatives or showing interest to act in children’s films. Answering to the questions asked in the press meet, Bharadwaja said that Telugu heroes are not powerful enough to take up roles like that of Aamir Khan in ‘Taare Zameen Par,’ and as a result Telugu film industry is not able to produce quality children’s films.
Further, he said the number of people criticizing Telugu film industry for not producing children’s films is increasing. For such people, Bharadwaja asked to just make a note of the number of children’s films being made in other languages. He proclaimed that children’s films are not being made in acceptable (or required) numbers in any language of the country.
Furthermore, he said that Tollywood has produced super hit films like “Papam Pasivadu,” “Letha Manasulu” and “Dheeksha” in the past. But now, makers of children’s film are focusing more on subsidies or awards. As a result, such movies are not reaching people. To avert this, he advised children’s film makers to make films with zeal rather than keeping in mind the aforesaid.
Also, speaking on the occasion, actor Narayana Rao said that the government should take up the responsibility of taking children’s films to the people. He added that though our film industry has able directors and producers to make children’s films, there are no enough theaters to screen them. He opined that the state government should take initiatives to set up mini-theaters in the districts to screen such films.
