The Movie Artist Association (MAA), which recently organized ‘Starnight-Spandana’ to help flood hit victims, is now going to organize ‘Star Cricket’ to raise funds for poor artists. The 20-20 match ‘MAA Premier League T20 Team Cup,’ which was scheduled on December 13, has been postponed to due to ‘Starnight-Spandana.’ It is now rescheduled on 14 February 2010.
Murali Mohan, the president of Movie Artist Association (MAA) on Saturday said “Starnight-Spandana organized by MAA on November 7 was a huge success and could raise quite a huge amount for the aid of flood-hit victims of the state. We were able to organize such a big event in just a small period of 20 days and make it a grand success. In the same way, we are now planning for star cricket to help poor artists. There are many poor artists in our film industry who though appear to wear silk shirts are in fact wearing torn banians inside. Such artists are facing many problems in their final stages of life. MAA has helped them many times. Added to these, MAA is also paying health insurance premiums for such people. MAA includes rich people but the organization itself is poor. In this regard, to raise funds, we have planned for Star Cricket on December 13, but has been postponed to due to Starnight-Spandana.”
Renowned actor Nandamuri Balakrishna said “MAA is the parent organization for all the Telugu artists. We have recently organized Starnight-Spandana for flood-hit victims and now organizing Star Cricket for our own people. I hope even this turns out to be a grand success.”
Actor Srikanth said “We have successfully organized Star Cricket twice in the past. Now, for the third time, we intend to make it even bigger and hit a hattrick. We all will participate in the event in the headship of Balakrishna.”
Many other stars including Jayasudha, Manchu Vishuvardhan, Kalyan Ram, Ali, Tarakaratna, AVS, Ashok Kumar, Rajeev Kanakala, Shivaji Raja, Manik, Siva Krishna and Raja Raveendra have attended the press meet.
